Danger of Christian Persecution in Syria is Very High - Whistleblower Wednesday | The Rob Maness Show EP 456

The fall of Syria’s Assad government and its defeat by the coalition led by a former Al Qaida and Al Nusra Islamists has the risk of more Christian persecution at the hands of a Muslim fundamentalist government raising concerns of Christian and western leaders around the globe. The complexities surrounding just who all the actors in the rebel factions, the various religious sects, and ethnic groups are makes the situation difficult to understand by the casual observer. Christians in the area were once a majority but are now about 10 percent of the population, concentrated in urban areas of Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, Hama, Latakia and in Hasaka governorate but many have fled to other places due to the Syrian civil war. Finding allies can be very difficult in the Middle East is very difficult and the situation with the change in government makes it even more so. To help us understand what is happening today, my guest is Juliana Taimoorazy, the founder the Iraqi Christian Relief Council organized to shine a light on the plight of Christians in her ancestral homeland and raise funds to deliver food, shelter and medicine to Iraq. Her own unique story as a refugee has made her a strong leader and an unshakable voice for Christians and other minorities in the Middle East today. Taimoorazy has advised many U.S. based organizations and institutions on the issue, has been consulted on developing policy and as a leading international advocate, became a two time Nobel Peace Prize nominee for advancing awareness of persecution of Christians and other minorities in the Middle East. Taimoorazy is currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Texas at Dallas.
