For the Fallen by @RobManess
From the voice of a warrior, bound by the creed, We stand on this soil, where heroes did bleed. Their duty was iron, unyielding, and true, For the red, white, and blue, they gave all they knew.
No thought of themselves, no pause for their gain, They marched through the fire, through anguish and pain. With honor their compass, integrity’s flame, Each soul bore the weight of America’s name.
Selfless, they stood, where the brave dare to go, In fields torn by thunder, in deserts’ harsh glow.
From beaches of Normandy to mountains afar, They carved out our freedom beneath every star. Sacrifice whispers in valleys below, Where crosses stand silent, where poppies now grow.
Their lives laid down freely, no bargain, no debt, For liberty’s promise, their sun forever set. We owe them our vigilance, our hearts, and our fight, To guard what they gave us through day and through night.
Their integrity binds us, their courage our call, To live for the truth, and to never let fall. So raise up the flag, let it wave proud and high, For the ones who gave all ‘neath the vast, open sky.
Their duty, our beacon; their honor, our guide; For America’s fallen, our tears and our pride.
